Plane Spotting!
It sounds like atake on Train Spotting, one of my all time fave books n movies but this was fun. For starters,NO,its not a book or a movie but very simply the exact meaning of the words.Planes and spotting them. Yesterday after 4 whole days of being cooped up at home trying to study (I was never very good at that) It was Thursday night. Now Thursday night is a stress buster for mr because of a guy called Mark Rego who conducts a pub Quiz called "Booze& Brains" in a pub (Duh!) called the New Night Watchman. The rules of the quiz are pretty simple enough, U win the quiz and ur booze bill is on the house, Well we have been winning it regularly for some time till we hit a rough patch in between. For the past 2 weeks though we have been in top form and the bill came to some 30 bucks per head. Pretty cheap on the whole. Since the cops are hellbent on closing all night spots at 2330 hrs (sad but true) I then headed to drop a friend off at his house. I did get an invite from another friend whose folks are out of town for the weekend to crash at his place for more booze and no brains. Not one to refuse an offer like that, I did exactly that and landed at his his place at Midnight. There were a couple of guys there who had and supplied me as well with Bacardi. I had enough to now officially put me off Bacardi as well. Bat Shit not withstanding it is too sweet for me.I think my Scotch ,neat, is any day better than other drinks save Beer. So after a while at around 2-ish some of the guys left as they are "working" professionals. That left just 3 of us in the house and then to our horror we discovered that we had run outta cigarettes. Now there would be no shops open at that time of the night where we stayed. So we took out the car and headed to MG Road, where the nightlife even the cops cant stop thrives. It consists ofTea/Coffee sellers who come on a Bicycle carrying their container of the beverage, plastic glasses of the disposable kind and Cigarettes. The journey itself was exhilarating. Cold weather, Loud music playing Iron Maiden at concert sound levels, and Formula 1 Driving skills. We reached there in like 1 song. And thats because we had to stop off at an ATM to draw money cause none of us were carrying any money! Sitting on the pavemen, drinking Tea,which was hot and comforting in the cold weather, and a cigarette each! Sitting there we were discussing what to do next when the discussion of Mumbai rains came up.Someone mentioned that planes were grounded and others couldnt land or take off due to flooded runways, when I suddenly got the bright idea of going to see planes take off n land. Off Airport road in Bangalore, there is a road called Wind-Tunnel Road which if u follow it far enough ends up running parallel to the runway. We headed there at once. We reached a secluded spot with a great view and parked. Went out had more smokes and sat there for a couple of hours till the cold got the better of us. I did put in a couple of snaps in the photos section but as its from a phone cam unless u zoom in there is not much visible. So thats how PLANE SPOTTING came about. Went back to his place, crashed at around dawn.I got up a couple of hours later and left for home. My mates were stilll sleeping and still are for all I know. I'll have to check on them now.
